mustie Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Hi i bought a wheel and tyre package a while ago and a few days ago i had a blowout at 72 mph was very scarey . well i went to my local garage for a new tyre and i was informed buy the garage that the tyres supplied in the package where the wrong tyres as they was'nt reinforced or extra load so i phone the company i bought the wheel/ tyres from and was told theres nothing they can do , i said to him that he knew what car the tyres where for as the wheels where 5 stud and he said u need reinforced tyres at the time i purchased them , even the receipt shows reinforced tyres but they was'nt supplied . thinking about small claims court WHAT DO YOU GUYS RECKON ?? Was'nt a happy bunny was quoted Quote
gazza007 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Hmmm interesting,What tyres did you have before?I have that tyre size & car was originally supplied with Conti CH90's reinforced, since then I have always used this type & have been very pleased. I pay about Quote
mumof4 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Do you still have the tyre that blew out?as that would prove you did not have reinforced tyres.A while ago i bought a tyre for our car..i specified reinforced.when i pitched up with hubby the guy fitted the tyre.hubby went to pay while i had a look.i had 3 reinforced and one that had just been fitted that wasnt.so i went into the office and quiereied itthe guy tried fobbing me off saying that i hadnt asked for reinforced.i told himthat i did and why the hell would i want a normal tyre on a car that weighs about 3 tonne!!He grumbled a bit then said i had been quoted wrong price..i said dont think so as if you charge 90 quid for a normal bog standard tyre there must be summit wrong. He said that we would have to come back in 2 days but i said no way as i was not going to let hubby drive the car with a wrong tyre.told him hed better source one fast as he had quoted me that price for a reinforced tyre and he had taken the car details.Took 2 hours but we got one in the end plus a Quote
mustie Posted March 30, 2006 Author Report Posted March 30, 2006 They where kumho tyres fitted i just phoned trading standards are they are interested , i have all old tyres which i had to keep getting rid of em would be silly at the momment but after talikng to trading standards i will be taking the matter further will keep updated with my progress Quote

NikpV Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 surely - they haven't a leg to stand on - if they knew they hadn't supplied what they put on the receipt then its fraud if they didn't know then its incompetence - what excuse are they using to wash their hands of it????????? Quote
Goofygolfer Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 ;) Thats terrible service the blow out could have had life threatening consequences. Where did you get the tyre package from? was it on the net? come on name and shame! Quote
morticiaskeeper Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Had a puncture on Tuesday, 2nd in 3 weeks. Couldn't wait for eTyres to come out, so took it to my local Pug express fit place. Told him that if he needed to replace, it would have to be a cheapy, but reinforced. Turned out he had a couple of cheapies in stock ordered for someone who didn't come back. Quote
AndeeeH Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Hubby likes me in bulldog mode!! What's that? on all fours snarling and straining at the leash!! :D Andy. Quote

El Dingo Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Please name and shame. In my area 'Humphrey's' tried to fit a V rated tyre to my Z-tyre-rated car. They argued that I'd never drive over 130mph anyway (however, at the time I worked for a company in Munich...) Trading standards were interested and persued the claim, however, in the end (as I refused the tyre and there was no paperwork) it was my word against thiers and so no action could be taken. Quote
mustie Posted April 1, 2006 Author Report Posted April 1, 2006 I can't name them yet but once and if i get a good result from them i will do so i am lucky as i have the recipt which states refinforced tyres were supplied but tyres say diffrent kumho load 91 refinforced / extra load tyres should be load 95 i hope to hear some time next week on whats gunna happen Quote
strouf Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Just checked mine (Continentals) and they're 93W . Is this within the proper load range ? The car (new) came fitted with those , as the original fit Michelins were damage by being flat for months , while the car was in customs area ! Quote
